We are always a little sad to say goodbye to our gorgeous autumn foliage, but the fun doesn’t end with the falling of the leaves. In fact, November has an incredible line-up of events, activities, and special deals to make the most of the transition season.

Hit the Trails

The great outdoors are always waiting, and Traverse City has its fair share of wide-open spaces! Explore dozens of trails around northern Michigan all month long…just be sure to bundle appropriately! If you’re planning to be in the area on lucky 11/11, don’t miss a free admission day at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore!

Start Shopping

It’s never too early to begin shopping for holidays…or to find the perfect souvenir. Head downtown during Traverse City’s Shop Your Community Day, Nov. 13 where you can donate 15% of your purchase to local nonprofits and charities. Later in the month, be sure to check out Black Friday, Small Business Saturday for great deals at boutiques and gift shops.

Drink Some Beer…

Reward yourself for your hiking (or shopping) workout with a pint during Traverse City Beer Week. Our celebration of all things craft beer runs November 12-19, and participants can follow the Ale Trail to discover nearly 20 breweries and enter to win cool prizes via a mobile passport. Get all the details here.

…Or Some Wine

If you’re more of a wine person—or you just want to share the love—you’re in luck. Not only do nearly all the Traverse Wine Coast wineries stay open during the colder season, but there are some fun and safe events you can experience too. Try a Barrel Room Experience at Left Foot Charley or snag great deals on flights and happy hour beverages at Rove Estate.

Run Around

Races are back this year, so we have good news for active folks! Here are some to start training for.

  • 5K Turkey Trot in downtown Traverse City
  • TC Track Club Farmland 5K and Free for all Bike Ride
  • Jingle Bell Run

Check Out the Art and Culture Scene

November is an awesome time to get your art and culture fix. The museums and galleries are quiet, so you can browse to your heart’s content. Plus, there are some awesome events and exhibits happening this month, like the National Writers Series, The Bay Theatre Fall Film Series, The Charles Mintz: Lustron Stories Exhibition at Crooked Tree Arts Center, and an array of options at the Dennos Museum Center. If you want to stay outside, you can also visit the murals around downtown Traverse City!
