September through November are anything but sleepy. Colorful and spirited is more like it! While fall color tours are a priority, it doesn’t mean there’s nothing else to do during autumn in Traverse City.
In early September, The Harvest Stompede race is a seasonal favorite. Take in the scenery and rolling hills as you race through the vineyards. After the race, reward yourself on a self-guided tour to any of the participating wineries on the Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail. If art and fall color are on your bucket list, be sure to add the Downtown Art Walk to your itinerary. And if you are a hockey fan, don’t miss the NHL Prospect & Red Wings Training Camps at Traverse City’s Centre Ice Arena.
Halloween in Traverse City is a festive time! Trick-or-treat through the city during the annual Downtown Traverse City Halloween Walk or get ready to run as your favorite spooky character in the 5k Zombie Run.
The leaves may fade away in November, but special events still fill the air. Celebrate the craft beer scene during Traverse City Beer Week, hit the mountain bike trails at the Iceman Cometh Challenge or head into Downtown Traverse City for some pre-season holiday events.
