Biking
Cruiser, fixie, tandem or mountain bike, however you roll we’ve got a route for you. Spend time cycling along the country roads of the Leelanau or Old Mission peninsulas. Fly through a singletrack trail in the woods or go at a leisurely pace on one of the paved trails around the region.
There are plentiful dirt tracks, including the trails at Timber Ridge Resort. And the local trail network is just about the best you can get! The TART signature trail is a 10.5-mile paved pathway that stretches east-west across the city, and the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail is a paved pathway between Glen Arbor and Empire. Both routes provide scenic views along the lakeshore with ample spots to stop for a break, picnic or selfie moment.
When winter arrives, biking doesn’t slow down. In fact, it gets a lot more exciting -- on a fat bike! Some of the same trails that bikers enjoy during spring, summer and fall are also open during the winter.
Bring your own wheels or rent some at a local shop.
