Located in Traverse City near the Grand Traverse Commons, the Botanic Garden at Historic Barns Park is open year-round as a beautiful sanctuary of environmental preservation, recreation, education, and health. Its 26 acres include nine gardens, hiking trails, a stone labyrinth, and a gift shop featuring works of regional artists. There is no charge for admission, and free docent-led walking tours of The Botanic Garden are available Tuesdays through Saturdays at 11:00 AM and 12:45 PM (see thebotanicgarden.org/visit). For persons with mobility limitations, cart transportation is available for tours.
