It’s lovely weather for a sleigh ride together up north! If you’ve never taken a sleigh ride before, it’s everything you see in the movies—prancing horses, falling snowflakes, and cozy blankets. Across northern Michigan, there are plenty of ways to get your sleigh on, whether it’s a romantic ride for two or an adventure for the whole family.
Ranch Rudolf | Traverse City
Ranch Rudolf is best known for its summer horseback riding and winter snowmobiling, but their sleigh rides are not to be missed! The 45-minute sleigh route will take you through the beautiful Boardman River Valley, which looks like a stunning snow globe during the winter months. Sleigh rides are $16 per person and children 2 and under are free.
Fantail Farm | Benzonia
Fantail Farm offers a scenic spot in Benzie County to explore the 120-acre farm. Rides need to be scheduled in advance as they are available by reservation only on weekdays and weekends at 10 AM, Noon, 2 PM and 4 PM. Rates are as follows:
- Two Seat Santa Sleigh: $60 (2 guests)
- Group Ride (adults – 3 to 6 Guests): $84.00 Flat Rate
- Group Ride (7 or more guests): $14.00/person
- Children age 3 and under are free!
- Santa Sleigh family- (Two parents and child age 3-12)- $70.
* Rides include a hot cocoa kit that has cups with lids, a spoon and cocoa packets.
Antler Ridge Farms | Williamsburg
The team at Antler Ridge Farms has nearly 40 years of sleigh experience! Dixie and Danny are the two Percheron Draft Horses who will take you on a gentle journey through the woods. Rides are available by appointment only and will begin in December.
Crystal Mountain | Thompsonville
A horse-drawn surrey ride is a fan favorite at Crystal Mountain. What’s a surrey, you ask? It’s an old-fashioned carriage, and at Crystal Mountain, it means you have a roof over your head for the journey! Glide through the snow behind a team of Belgian horses, and cap off the evening with a complimentary hot cocoa and campfire. Surrey rides begin at 5:30 pm and are $12 per person and free for ages 3 and under.
