We wouldn't be the Cherry Capital of the World if our favorite time of the year didn't feature the beauty of blooming cherry blossoms. With the combination of rain and warm weather this weekend, some blossoms have started to make their debut.

Here is what we are seeing right now:

  • Take M-37 north from Traverse City to make your way up the Old Mission Peninsula. As you are driving along, the first set of cherry blossoms you see is located right by Black Star Farms Winery along McKinley Road.
  • County Road 633 south of Suttons Bay is a great drive to see the cherry blossoms with cherry and apple orchards lining the road.
  • Just north of M72, Bugai Road has some white blossoms to view.
  • While the trees along Front Street in downtown Traverse City are not cherry trees, they are still in full bloom and a great option for scrolling through the local shops.

Keep in mind, this is only the beginning and we are still seeing plenty of cherry trees with buds on them in our region. Those buds will become blossoms in no time depending on the weather in the coming weeks.

Friendly reminder: the blossoms are on private farms; please view them respectfully from the side of the road.
