Traverse City and the surrounding area is an outdoor-lovers paradise with each of the four seasons offering nearly endless opportunities to experience all Mother Nature has to offer.

Bike or skate along miles of paved (and unpaved) trails early spring through late fall. Or head off road and hike or bike through dense forests or along spectacular waterfront pathways. Traverse City's trail systems -- including the TART and the Vasa -- are hugely popular thanks in large part to dedicated volunteers who keep them groomed year-round. Snowshoers and nordic skiiers revel in the serenity of these trails, too.

Ski or board at one of several resorts in the area during the winter months, or strap on the water skiis once summer arrives. Charter a fishing boat and head out on Grand Traverse Bay or Lake Michigan to reel in some freshwater salmon or trout, or try out the latest Up North craze: stand-up paddle boarding.
