Snowmobiling

Snowmobilers love the trails around Traverse City! Blanketed with soft white snow, the region’s gently sculpted hills and valleys become the perfect setting for winter adventure.
More than 100 miles of trails are kept groomed for quick access and easy riding throughout the season. Linked with these are hundreds of miles of ungroomed secondary trails and county roads, making it possible for snowmobiles to travel nearly anywhere in northwest lower Michigan.
There’s something here for every taste: twist and turn through dense hardwood forests, tour over hills, bridges, and waterways, or race across wide-open spaces.
Best of all, the area's trail systems are close to Traverse City’s hotels, resorts, restaurants and casinos – an important consideration at the end of a long day of sledding!
Two resorts – Ranch Rudolf and the Shoestring Resort – provide direct snowmobile access to the trailhead, while several others, like the Interlochen Motel, Kingsley Motel, Econo Lodge and Ellis Lake Resort, can be reached by way of connecting trails. The Grand Traverse Resort & Spa, Holiday Inn Express, Sleep Inn and Shanty Creek Resort, are located within a mile or two of the trail and provide ample parking for trailers.
