Welcome to the

Traverse Wine Coast

The Traverse Wine Coast is distinguished by its two American Viticultural Areas (AVAs): the Leelanau Peninsula AVA and the Old Mission Peninsula AVA, which together produce over 60% of the grapes in Michigan. Our wine-growing region is characterized by unique microclimates and diverse soils sculpted by ancient glacial movements. The moderating effect of Lake Michigan on our climate serves to extend our growing season and ensures grape ripeness, allowing us to produce an array of wine styles. Our vintners dedicate themselves to innovative viticultural and winemaking practices, pushing the boundaries of creativity while allowing characteristics in the wine to provide a special sense of place. The result is fruit-forward, balanced, and refreshing wines that epitomize the finest qualities of cool climate viticulture. Experiencing wines from the Traverse Wine Coast transcends mere enjoyment—it is a deep dive into our ‘up north’ culture, all set against the breathtaking backdrop of northern Michigan’s natural splendor.
