Traverse City Charity Challenge

Munson Manor

As a regional referral center, Munson Medical Center serves patients who travel a great distance for quality health care. The Munson Manor Hospitality House is a "home away from home" for family members of out-of-town patients who face the added stress of traveling during a loved one's hospitalization. The facility is also available for patients and their caregivers who must provide their own lodging during outpatient treatments and procedures.

Justin Mortier is a man of Faith, Family and Passion. He, his wife Jessica, and their four children live in Traverse City and have loved the area for the last 10 years. Justin always played sports as a kid growing up and learned many life lessons through these experiences, as many of us have. Justin has never competed in an IRONMAN, or any other Triathlon for that matter. He is motivated to compete in the IRONMAN 70.3 by his family and believing that anything is possible. Having just competed in his first half marathon this past Memorial Day at the Bayshore he knows he has hundreds more hours of training ahead. Justin has chosen Munson Manor as his race partner largely in part to his son McKay (Mac). Mac was born at Munson three years ago non-responsive, he was revived and then was rushed to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital where he spent the next month. Justin and Jessica lived at the Ronald McDonald house and know first hand how a place like Munson Manor can make a historic difference in a family’s life. Mac is on a journey and so now is Justin, as he has decided to compete in triathlons until Mac can walk independently. Justin dreams of competing along side all of his children in a race at some point in their lives to remember that life takes hard work, it takes hope and it takes an amazing family to support you.
