Dynamic Variation:

Traverse City Museums

The Traverse City area boasts a number of small but impressive museums.

Located on the campus of Northwestern Michigan College, the Dennos Museum is one of the best small art museums in the Midwest, with ever-changing presentations of works by local artists as well as traveling exhibits from around the world. Its permanent display of sculpture, prints and drawings by the Inuit artists of the Canadian arctic is one of the largest and most historically complete collections anywhere.

The Great Lakes Children's Museum provides hands-on, interactive family fun focused on water and the Great Lakes, while the Music House Museum in Acme houses a delightful collection of working mechanical musical instruments and the Eyaawing Museum and Cultural Center in Peshawbestown (north of Suttons Bay) showcases the history and culture of the local Ottawa and Chippewa Indians.

In addition, Traverse City and its neighboring communities also have several historical museums displaying artifacts from years gone by.
