Spring is a lovely time of year to visit Traverse City. The air is scented with spring blossoms and new earth, and the ice has melted off the lakes and bays, revealing the beautiful blue waters our area is known for!
For visitors to our area, it’s a perfect time to take advantage of off-season specials at our area lodging properties. The Traverse City True Escape special runs from early January through mid-May each year, providing discounts on lodging and special offers at restaurants, shops, wineries and more. Choose from nearly 5,000 guest rooms ranging from waterfront hotels and motels to romantic B & Bs, cozy cabins & cottages, luxury condos or a wide variety of vacation rental properties.
And while the water temperature in the Bay is still cold this time of year, many hotels offer heated indoor pools and saunas … perfect for relaxing after a day of wine tasting or shopping!
Speaking of wine tasting, both of the area’s wine trails celebrate the season with spring events. Sip & Savor on the Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail is the first weekend of May, while Blossom Day on Old Mission Peninsula is usually held the third Saturday in May. Both festivals provide a great opportunity to view the magnificent cherry blossoms that adorn the two peninsulas each spring.
Other spring events include the Traverse City Chocolate Festival in late April, the Downtown Art Walk in Downtown Traverse City, the Asparagus Festival in Empire, and the annual Bayshore Marathon.
