Sunnywoods on the Platte

Time slows down in Benzie County. Here, you quickly become attuned to nature’s rhythm. The soft whisper of summer breezes through the trees. The steady gurgling of a nearby trout stream. The measured notes of the cardinal and chickadee. It’s a welcome feeling to abide by nature’s clock… especially at a place like Sunnywoods on the Platte River in Bealuh.

Here, nature waits right outside your door. Nestled on the banks of the Platter River—one of the area’s famed trout streams—Sunnywoods is surrounded by scenic beauty. “It’s the prettiest property in Benzie County,” exclaims Shirley Bolling, who owns Sunnywoods with her husband, Dan. “People come back here, year after year, just to relax and soak in the peace, quiet, and natural surroundings.”

The property features four cozy, comfortable park model cabins. The cabins are outfitted with full kitchens and come in one- and two-bedroom models. All are air conditioned and are equipped with the essentials. Both styles sleep four to seven people. In addition to the cabins, Sunnywoods has six clean and comfortable motel rooms, ideal for overnight or weekend guests. The  property also features 40 RV sites—30 of which include full hook ups—plus tent camping. An outdoor pool is a welcome feature for toasty summer days.

For day trippers or weekend adventurers, Sunnywoods is the perfect base camp. The on-premise convenience store is fully stocked with snacks, beverages, ready-to-go meals, and essential gear you may have forgotten. Stock up before hitting the road, trail, or river. Whatever you choose—hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing, shopping, skiing, etc.—you’ll always return to a quiet retreat, a comfortable bed, and the soft sounds of nature all around you.
