Mountain Valley Lodge

Comfort. Cleanliness. Convenience. Cost. For many visitors, these are all they need to check off their list when choosing a place to stay in Benzie County. A lot of that is due to the fact that there’s so much to do and discover here, that you simply need a welcoming place to lay your head at night. Should this be the case, Mountain Valley Lodge more than fits the bill.

Located in Thompsonville, the property is owned by husband and wife, Luke and Kym Reynolds. They took it over five years ago and did an extensive renovation, adding new beds, windows, carpet, and more. “We pretty much started from the ground up,” Kym explains. “We upgraded with new furniture, TVs, etc.” In addition to its recent improvements, Mountain Valley Lodge has a large recreation room, with a ping pong table, pool table, full kitchen, and big-screen TV… basically everything you need for a family gathering or game night. A large outdoor firepit is perfect for s’mores and star gazing.

Given its central location, Mountain Valley Lodge has become popular with visitors pursuing a variety of activities. “In the summer, we get family reunions, golfers, motorcycle groups, you name it,” says Kym. “Hunters and anglers come here in the fall.  In the winter, it’s skiers and snowmobilers. We have something for everyone throughout the year.”

“Something for everyone” is no exaggeration. Mountain Valley Lodge is just minutes from the area’s many lakes and waterways. Come kayak a fast-running river. Canoe a meandering stream. Stroll a quiet stretch of beach. The famous Sleeping Bear Dunes, with its soaring Dune Climb and scenic stops, is just a short ride away. The area has several communities that—while growing in popularity and amenities—still retain their small-town appeal. Frankfort, Beulah, and Benzonia each have thriving downtowns, with hip, new eateries, eclectic shops, and more. In short, you’ll enjoy all the comforts of home at Mountain Valley Lodge, with a cost and convenience that’s also comfortable on your wallet.
