Courtyard by Marriott Traverse City
Courtyard by Marriott means business, literally. For nearly 30 years, the national brand hotel has led the industry by focusing on the needs of the modern business traveler. The Traverse City location is no different...albeit, with some very significant exceptions.
“We have a reputation for being a business hotel,” explains General Manager, Bryan Moore. “But, because of our location and unique amenities, we attract a lot of leisure guests too.”
Courtyard’s appeal with guests likely starts with its location, which is a “sweet spot”, from a visitor’s perspective. It’s located just minutes from downtown, yet far enough away to offer a welcome respite from the daily hustle and bustle. Guests appreciate the many gracious amenities too. “Our fresh, made-to-order breakfast is a huge hit,” states Moore. “It’s definitely a step up from the standard hotel breakfast. We have a Starbucks here too, which guests love.”
Courtyard has a lot of not-so-little extras that certainly also add to its appeal. An indoor pool and fitness center are perfect for a little relaxation or working off the stresses of the day. A gas fireplace adds a noticeable warmth to the lobby. According to Moore, people appreciate the nearness to nature in the rear of the hotel. “On summer nights, guests will open their windows or doors to hear the frogs and the crickets just outside. It’s not your typical hotel experience.”
Courtyard’s customer service is also anything but typical. Many guests return annually, knowing the kind of personal attention they’ll receive. “One couple—both retired teachers from the area—has been coming up here from Florida for several years to volunteer with the Cherry Festival,” Moore explains. “This is their `Up North’ home for 45 days. This year, we celebrated the wife’s birthday with a big cake and candles. It was great. We have this kind of relationship with a number of our guests.”
