Dynamic Variation:

Farmers Markets & U-Picks

What could be more fun than buying a quart of red, sweet cherries at a roadside market? What could awaken your senses more quickly than tasting a crisp and juicy apple just off the tree? Not many things.

Most of the beloved fruits and vegetables of the Traverse City Area -- cherries, peaches, strawberries and asparagus -- are ripe in mid to late summer. Look for them at Traverse City's Sara Hardy Farmer's Market or at any of the farm stands around the countryside. Even better, you might try picking fruit yourself at a U-Pick orchard!

Top off the experience with a fresh bouquet of flowers and you have a perfect setting for a selfie. And if you’re visiting during the winter, there’s even an indoor market in the Village at Grand Traverse Commons where you can stock up on locally made pastries, jams, honey and soaps.
