SNOWSHOE THE VINES WITH GRAND TRAVERSE BIKE TOURS
Grand Traverse Bike Tours, a year-round activity-based tour company located in Suttons Bay, MI, is known for offering visitors unique wine tasting experiences through their popular Leelanau Wine Trail Bike Tour. This winter, GTBT is back with their lineup of fun winter adventures, including the much-loved Vine to Wine Snowshoe Tour.
“We love sharing our winter wonderland here,” says GTBT owner Nick Wierzba. “Snow transforms this area into such a magical place. I can’t wait to get outside and explore from one winery to another. It’s like snowshoeing through a snow globe!”
The Vine to Wine Snowshoe Tours will take place every Saturday throughout winter.
What’s Included:
- Professionally guided snowshoe tour on private vineyard and orchard trails.
- Snowshoe and pole rental.
- Catered warm soup lunch.
- Wine purchase pick-up service.
The Adventure:
Guests can choose from a full round-trip tour (5.5 miles) or a point-to-point tour (3 miles) with shuttle service back to the starting point. Tours alternate meeting spots, starting either at Big Little Wines, Suttons Bay Ciders, or Ciccone Vineyard & Winery. Guests are outfitted with snowshoes and poles before heading into the vineyards. Expect 30-40 minutes of snowshoeing between each winery, passing through coastal woodlands, windswept bluffs, and snow-covered orchards.
Winery Highlights:
- Ciccone Vineyard & Winery: Enjoy a cozy, chateau-like experience high on a hill with an indoor fireplace and a variety of estate-grown crisp whites and distinct reds.
- Suttons Bay Ciders: Featuring apples grown on-site, this cidery offers a palette adventure with unique flights and a stunning panorama of Grand Traverse Bay. Keep an eye out for eagles from the tasting room!
- Big Little Wines: Set in a treehouse-like location, this winery serves small-batch, handcrafted wines in a fun, cozy tasting room. Situated in Mawby’s original location, their property overlooks rolling hills dotted with vines and fruit trees.
