Painters from across Michigan and the Midwest converge on Glen Arbor August 1st - 3rd for the Glen Arbor Arts Center’s 11th Plein Air Weekend. This annual event is highlighted by three outdoor painting competitions that offer participants both daytime and sundown events and two exhibits of original work.
The weekend’s culminating event, the Paint Out Sale on Saturday, August 3rd features work by 65 artists who registered early to be included in this all-day painting event. The evening viewing and sale is from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Glen Arbor Town Hall. The paintings are complemented by an appetizer and wine reception. More than 100 works of art will be exhibited and offered for sale on a first-come basis (at the sound of the gong at 5:45 PM). Petoskey painter, Heidi Marshall, will judge and award cash prizes for the best paintings. A People’s Choice Award will also be given. The evening’s show and sale is a ticketed exhibition. Admission is $15 per person before July 31st or $20 per person at the door; $10 for children ages 10 – 15, and free for children under 9.
