About
Join Manitou Winds for a dynamic program of chamber music, spoken word, and visual art where we’ll explore how artists in many disciplines use color as a language of expression. Together we’ll combine divergent voices, creating new colors and inspiring broader perspectives.
Our special guest soloist, Matthew Cochran, Instructor of Guitar at Interlochen Arts Academy, will perform one of his most recent solo guitar compositions (“3 Non-Algorithmic Human Interactions”) and then join with the entire ensemble to perform “Cicadas at the Equinox,” his work for wind quintet and guitar.
We’ll present colorful combinations of instruments including Daniel Baldwin’s “Landscapes” for clarinet, horn, bassoon, and piano; and Janet Lanier’s “Glory, Still & Gentle” for English horn, horn, and piano.
We’re excited to present the artwork of our Spring 2023 Collaborating Artist, Lauren Everett Finn. Lauren will curate and host a special solo exhibit you can enjoy before and after the concert.
Admission is free. Your goodwill donations will benefit our ensemble’s efforts to spread music and creativity throughout our region and beyond.
