Young Creatives Wanted: Apply for Glen Arbor Arts Center’s Learning in the Arts Mentorship Program (LAMP)
Glen Arbor, MI – The Glen Arbor Arts Center (GAAC) is now accepting applications for the 4th Annual Learning in the Arts Mentorship Program (LAMP), a unique summer opportunity for young people ages 16 to 22 interested in arts education, arts administration, and creative leadership. LAMP offers a comprehensive introduction to careers in the arts beyond being a studio artist, fostering professional growth and leadership skills while supporting youth summer classes.
LAMP participants engage in a hands-on learning experience within a supportive and professional arts environment, connecting with local artists, gallery owners, arts educators, and nonprofit leaders. Through this immersive opportunity, participants gain real-world experience and receive a $500 stipend upon successful completion of the program.
Program Details
June – August | ⏳ 41 hours total
Orientation: Tuesday, June 17 | 10 AM – 3 PM (Lunch provided)
Summer Camp Mentorship: Assist teaching artists for two weeks on Mon, Tues, Fri | 8:30 AM – 12 PM
Enrichment Days: June 25 & July 16 | 10 AM – 3 PM (Bring lunch)
Independent Work: 5 hours on your own time
Program Snapshot
LAMP provides high-quality mentorship and guided learning experiences in a nonprofit arts environment. Participants gain:
Hands-on experience in arts education working directly with students and teaching artists.
Exposure to arts administration & leadership, learning the operations of both nonprofit and for-profit arts organizations.
Career exploration opportunities for those interested in arts-related professions beyond being a studio artist.
Artist talks with professional artists.
Portfolio review for participants seeking feedback on their creative work.
Exhibitions & gallery management experience, learning how exhibitions are curated and managed.
Visits to area arts and cultural organizations for behind-the-scenes insights into the broader arts ecosystem.
Project collaboration that connects art and creativity with the local community, fostering creative outreach and real-world impact.
