The outdoors comes inside to the Lobby Gallery at the Glen Arbor Arts Center. By The Side Of The Road is a series of abstract landscapes out of the imagination of painter Alice Moss.

“I’m calling it By The Side Of The Road because I think of that as not just what I find by the side of the road, but what you see on the side of the road when you’re driving around,” said Moss. The Birmingham, Michigan resident’s focus is on Leelanau County – roadways, woodlands, and beaches, all of which she has been walking, watching, and visiting since childhood in the early 1960s. Moss is as curious about the road as she is about what stray materials find their way there. Her charming works are hybrids of paint, rusted metal, ground copper, old fence pieces and other found materials.

By The Side Of The Road is viewable in the GAAC Lobby Gallery during business hours, and online at GlenArborArt.org / EXHIBITS.
