The Glen Arbor Arts Center celebrates Amy L. Clark-Carels’s love of watercolor painting in a small exhibition of work from May 3rd - August 31st. This exhibition, a visual remembrance, is Glen Arbor Arts Center’s second lobby gallery exhibit of 2021. It will also be viewable on the Glen Arbor Arts Center's website here beginning on May 3rd.
Carels’s long, loving history with Glen Arbor dates back to the late 1950s. Her parents began camping here, then later built a family cottage on Big Glen that the Carels family continues to enjoy today. Carels’s passion and dedication to the visual arts can be seen in her many paintings of local landmarks — from Alligator Hill to interior scenes from the historic Sleeping Bear Inn.
The works in A Celebration offers a curated selection of these iconic paintings. They reflect Carels’s life-long love of the area. Carels divided her time between Glen Arbor and her home in Oakland Township. She passed away in September of 2018.
