Hear the Sunset Through Jazz: #38 on the Top 100 Things to do in TC

“Estate-grown wine, live music, and views of surrounding vineyards, islands, and bays make for the ultimate summer outing combo.  A growing number of wineries offer live music from patios, but Chateau Chantal maybe launched it all with its ongoing Jazz at Sunset, featuring the Jeff Haas Trio.  Often joined by saxophonist Laurie Sears, the trio offers a varied repertoire, ranging from masters, such as Duke Ellington and John Coletrane, to modern composers, including Haas himself.”

“Wine” Down at a Winery B&B: #43 on the Top 100 Things to do in TC

“At Chateau Chantal, you score a Tuscan-style hilltop view of classic red barns and distant islands, and add-on room service options are available, ranging from fondue to mulled wine with cheese plate and fresh baguette.  Hard to beat, though, is the chance to taste wine with other guests after the tasting room is closed, then move on to board games by the real wood fire.”

Blessing of the Blossoms: #88 on the Top 100 Things to do in TC

“Each year on a May Sunday when fields have bloomed into billowing white and pink clouds, a local pastor presides over a service that integrates natural beauty, readings, and a blessing – of the crops and the fields and those who work them.  The Sunday event honors the region’s native heritage with a baptismal sprinkling of holy water in four directions and has a fitting benediction: free cherry pie.  A little-known fact is that the ceremony was the precursor to today’s National Cherry Festival.”
