Whether you're a sporty person looking to participate in an event, want to just savor a glass of wine, or are looking to take in a performance, there's plenty of options here in Traverse City.
Detroit Red Wings Training Camp | September 14th - 18th
Want to watch the Detroit Red Wings up close? Centre Ice Arena's newly renovated rink is small enough to see your favorite players practice and scrimmage with great views. Check it out for a fraction of the cost of attending a real game; the kids will love it! Make sure to look at the varying prices on their website, as they do change depending on the day you visit.
Colantha's Garden Celebration | September 30th
A festival celebrating… a cow? This truly is perfect for a family fun adventure. Take delight in an arts and crafts market, kids activities, educational exhibitors, Botanic Garden tours, a cake walk, food trucks, and live music. Take in that crisp fall weather the right way with the family! Moo.
Doodle Art Day | September 8th, October 13th, and November 10th
What a fun and family-friendly event to love! From 1:00-3:00 PM, everyone in your crew can have the freedom to show off their artistic talents… for FREE! Bring your own sketchpad or paper and some drawing utensils (although some are provided!). Come to be artistic, socialize with others, grab some free drinks and snacks, and listen to live music.
Harvest Stompede | September 8th - 9th
Leelanau Peninsula’s vineyard race and wine tour is one of our yearly favorites! The race runs through the high vines with some of the best views the area has to offer. The Harvest Stompede Wine Tour starts on Saturday right after the race finishes, from 11-6 on Saturday and 12-5 on Sunday. Tickets are $40, which include a souvenir wine glass and a special wine pour and food pairing at each of the 24 participating wineries along the Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail.
Sleeping Bear Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K | October 6th
Sign up for one of the most scenic races you'll ever experience! Early October temperatures off Lake Michigan make for wonderful race weather, and the fall foliage can’t be beat. All races begin and end in Empire, and each individual competition takes you past different scenic areas, such as Sleeping Bear Dunes and Glen Arbor.
Run VASA! 5K, 10K and 25K | November 10th
This VASA cross-country trail event takes you through the beautiful Pere Marquette State Forest in northern Michigan. With three different race options to choose from, it is always a popular one for whatever your ideal distance may be. Run or walk your way at this one of a kind event in Williamsburg!
Fall Drinking Fun
Toast the Season | November 3rd - 4th
Prepare for a joyous holiday season and come warm-up with wine and food pairings! You'll be able to collect recipes from each of the 25 Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail wineries, taste and buy wines to pair with your upcoming holiday meals, and purchase holiday gifts for your friends and loved ones!
