Short’s Fest – August 5th

Grab your friends and head to Short's Fest in Elk Rapids. Enjoy creative beers, ciders and local food vendors.

Northwestern Michigan Fair – August 6 – 12

Family fun at the annual fair August 6 -12. Exhibits, barn dance, 4-H livestock shows, carnival, Grand Stand shows, tough truck competition, great food.   

Port Oneida Fair – August 11-12

History comes alive at six historic sites during the annual Port Oneida Fair at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.

Traverse City Summer Microbrew & Music Festival – August 11- August 12

Grab your friends and head to Traverse City for a night devoted to craft beer and awesome music. This summer's festival will bring a bevy of some of the best brews in Michigan as well as brews from beyond our high-five border. Three stages of music, great food and a Silent Disco are all part of the evening's festivities!

Buckley Old Engine Show – August 17 – August 20

The Buckley Old Engine Show has over 700 antique gas and steam tractors, cars and trucks -- and a working 1923 steam locomotive that carries passengers around a mile of track.

Friday Night Live – Recurring weekly on Friday nights until August 25

Jazz, art, food and fun will fill East Front. This popular community block party features a full slate of music, entertainment, food, demonstrations and family activities along the 100 and 200 blocks of East Front Street.

Boats on the Boardwalk – August 5

This is a judged show located along the Boardman River boardwalk in Traverse City. Featuring 50 boats, circa 1900 through current wooden classics. 

Columbus’ Ships Arrive in Traverse City! – August 18 – August 22

From Friday, August 18th to Tuesday, August 22nd, replicas of the Columbus' Ships will be open for tours at the Clinch Park Marina. 

Vineyard to Bay Run – August 27

The point to point Vineyard to Bay Run starts at a vineyard, has beautiful views along the way, and ends near the beach. Runners experience the Wine Trail of the Leelanau Peninsula as they pass six vineyards. The gently rolling terrain of the scenic Leelanau Trail and magnificent views of Grand Traverse Bay will make this journey memorable.

Cacao Roasting & Rustic Truffle Making – August 5

This is a fun, hands-on way to learn about chocolate. It is meant to be informal and fun. Great for families and groups of friends.

Black Star Farms Paella Nights- Recurring weekly on Wednesday until August 30

It's more than a meal, it's an experience! Take in the wonderful savory aromas while our chefs prepare the paella right in the dining room for you. Experience for yourself why this Spanish tradition is considered one of the most sociable and enjoyable of all culinary occasions.

2017 Interlochen Arts Festival - “Evita”, High School Musical Theatre Co. August 3 - August 6

Popular opera star Nathan Gunn has developed a reputation as being one of the most exciting and in-demand baritones of the day. Here he teams with his illustrious wife Julie Gunn, the famed pianist and Director of Lyric Theatre Studies at the University of Illinois, for an emotionally charged and artistically impressive operatic performance.

Hockey – The Musical! August 9 – August 12

Noted author Mitch Albom skates into the world of comedic farce with Hockey - The Musical! When God decides there are too many sports in the world, He chooses to eliminate one of them - hockey. But that doesn't sit well with fans of the underdog game. So God says if five pure-of-heart souls can plead their case to save their beloved sport, he'll reconsider.

Peshawbestown Traditional Pow Wow – August 19 – August 20

The Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians holds its annual Pow Wow featuring native singers, dancers, artists, and artisans. Head out to the Peshawbestown powwow grounds for one of the region's finest displays in cultural heritage.
