Nothing can beat spending the week of the Fourth of July in Traverse City, thanks to the countless events that are approaching in and around the area. In fact, the real challenge will be trying to complete everything on your bucket list for America’s birthday. Let’s explore some of the Fourth of July happenings in Traverse City to celebrate our nation’s independence.

The main attraction in Traverse City during early July is the National Cherry Festival. It spans from July 2nd to July 9th and is all about celebrating and promoting cherries, community involvement, and the Grand Traverse region. On the Fourth, you’ll be able to catch some rides at Arnold’s Amusements Midway, grab a refreshing drink at the Beer Tent, take your little ones to the Kid’s Club, and close out your holiday by watching the National Cherry Festival fireworks display over West Grand Traverse Bay after sunset.

Looking to get your boogie on? For live music enthusiasts, Collective Soul and TESLA will be playing at the Bayside Music Stage at 6 pm on July 4th. Tickets can be purchased online at cherryfestival.org.

Embark on a National Cherry Festival Orchard Tour. There will be educational exhibits, samples of cherry products, and tours of an MSU research farm. The Orchard Tours will run from July 4th to July 8th and the shuttle to the farm will depart every half an hour from Traverse City Tourism during the hours of 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM.

Crystal Mountain is hosting their Old Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration from July 1st-4th. The four-day celebration entails family crafts, chairlift rides, live music, campfires, lawn games, a 5k run, a golf scramble, a bike and golf cart parade, and all of the other fun amenities that Crystal Mountain has to offer.

If you already have an action-packed day planned for the Fourth of July, check out the Great American Picnic on July 3rd at the Hagerty Center. The whole family can enjoy cherry-themed picnic food while watching the U.S. Navy Blue Angels perform over West Bay and joining in on outdoor games.
