"Boy, you sure do have a lot of bikes! Are all of those yours?" When friends and family visit us in Traverse City -- and see the inside of our garage -- the quantity of bicycles is always the first thing they comment on. If my husband had his way, he'd have a bike for every type of biking event in existence! But with small space living, this just isn't a possibility.
Luckily for him, there's Norte, a local organization that puts on group rides and bike swap programs -- so the bikes actually do get used! This time of year, it's sooner rather than later as we head into #NationalBikeMonth in May.
We will be dusting off the cruiser bikes, pumping the tires and finding our helmets as we prepare for Norte's first group ride of the season. For our family this is a much-anticipated event! Meeting up with friends, feeling the wind whirl against my skin and watching my kids joyfully cruise through TC -- it's what makes my heart dance.
"Spring Bling" is the theme and it's all happening on Thursday, May 3 from 6-8 pm. Meet up at Hull Park, ride around TC and finish off the evening with festivities at The Little Fleet. Visitors and locals are invited.
Bring your own bike, borrow one from the Norte Clubhouse or rent one from a local shop if you are planning to ride it a little longer during your visit. Be sure to add a little bling to your outfit, jacket, bike or helmet. Participants with the MOST color, spring accessories and orange (Norte's favorite color) will have an opportunity to win special prizes and possibly stand on a podium for that great photo opp!
Will I see you there? #BikeTVC
