It's hard to pinpoint an exact date for the spectacular show, but experts are telling us it will be within the next two weeks.
Locations in the region that are beginning the process, and showing pops of color, include the natural area around the Village at Grand Traverse Commons, Leelanau County roads including M-72 and spots that are at higher elevations to the east and south of the city.
Individual maples are showing bright red and orange, and there is some spot color from the golden yellow of the poplars, but for the most part there isn’t yet the kind of massed color we expect to see soon.
