In this Bright Spots blog: Chateau Grand Traverse and Grand Traverse Resort and Spa.
We all need bright spots in our day, now more than ever. Our community is full of people and businesses doing amazing things in the face of challenging times, and we want to celebrate the light they’re shining in northern Michigan. Read on for inspiring stories about the folks who make Traverse City a pretty great place.
Chateau Grand Traverse: Stepping Up for Meals
In this new partnership (which will run through March 30), Chateau Grand Traverse customers have an option to add a $5 donation to their order, both in store and online. The winery will match every single $5 donation, up to $50 per individual. (Customers can continue donating beyond the $50 mark if they would like!)
On their Facebook page, Chateau Grand Traverse says, “Thank you to each of you for not only supporting us, but for supporting your local community. We are so lucky to live and work where we do. Cheers to each of you and please stay safe, stay healthy, and continue to enjoy life!”
Thank you, Chateau Grand Traverse!
Grand Traverse Resort and Spa: Donating it All
When the state of Michigan banned the gathering of groups of 50 or more and required all restaurants to switch to carry-out service only, Grand Traverse Resort and Spa found themselves with a ton of food on their hands.
The 900-acre resort is known for hosting large groups and conferences, and they had just ordered food for an upcoming conference that would serve 1,800 people three meals each day. That’s enough for 5,400 meals!
The resort decided to donate the food in three ways: to Food Rescue food banks, to the tribal elders in the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians, and to their employees.
“It is a shame to let food go to waste,” says Mickey Cannon, the resort’s Director of Food & Beverage. “We found ways to make sure we took care of everyone.”
Thank you, Grand Traverse Resort and Spa!
