Traverse City Tourism's "Community Champion Award" is designed to help increase meeting and convention business for the Traverse City area by recognizing residents who are instrumental in bringing a group or association to town.
A Community Champion is a local resident who uses his/her contacts in a club, association or other group to help Traverse City Tourism bring new meeting or convention business to the area. That help can be as simple as making a phone call, issuing an invitation or sharing a name with the bureau so we can pursue the business.
Tourism is a key economic driver for the Traverse City area, employing thousands of local residents and supporting many local businesses. Visitors spend money in hotels, restaurants, wineries, shops and other businesses, adding to the economic vitality of our community.
