Dennos Museum Center – 1 1/2 Hours*

Located on the campus of Northwestern Michigan College, the Dennos Museum Center features changing exhibitions of historic and contemporary significance. Its permanent display of sculpture, prints and drawings by Inuit artists of the Canadian arctic is one of the largest and most historically complete collections anywhere.

Lunch at Old Mission Tavern
This delightful restaurant typifies the blending of good food, wine and eye-pleasing art that are found in Traverse City. (It even has its own art gallery, and owner Verna Bartnick is a celebrated local sculptor.)

Old_Mission_Lighthouse.JPG
Old Mission Point Lighthouse – 1 Hour*
This picturesque lighthouse was built in 1870 to warn ships away from the dangerous shoals extending into Grand Traverse Bay at the tip of the Old Mission Peninsula. Although it’s no longer in operation, it is open for tours and it is the centerpiece of an attractive park with popular beaches, historical exhibits and extensive hiking and skiing trails.

Old_Mission_General_Store.JPG
Old Mission General Store – 45 Minutes*
This historic store preserves the atmosphere of a simpler time, with barrels full of old fashioned candies, homemade sandwiches, soda fountain, general provisions, gifts, antiques, and conversation. Enjoy your treats while sitting down for a game of checkers or at the picnic table on the front porch.

Chateau_Chantal.JPG
Chateau Chantal Winery – 1 1/2 Hours*
Perched high atop the Old Mission Peninsula in one of the most scenic areas of the Great Lakes, Chateau Chantal’s views are as refreshing as its award-winning wines. This unique destination combines vineyards and winery, a bed & breakfast, winding roads, fresh air and kind company to create an Old World retreat.

Peninsula_Grill_web.JPG
Dinner at the Peninsula Grill
This cozy eatery in the village of Mapleton is a favorite place for Peninsula residents to gather for food and good times, and it doesn’t take long to see why. An extensive menu and a casual, neighborly atmosphere are its claims to fame.
