North Stars 2010-11 season tickets on sale
TRAVERSE CITY – For twenty-seven nights and afternoons this fall and winter, the Traverse City North Stars will treat northwestern lower Michigan to the best hockey they’ll see all year – save for the two weeks in September when the Detroit Red Wings and NHL Prospects call Centre ICE Arena their home.
The North Stars, fresh off a North American Hockey League North Division playoff championship and first-ever Robertson Cup berth, have announced that season tickets are now on sale for the 2010-11 regular season. The Stars open the regular season home campaign on Oct. 15 against new North Division rival Springfield (Ill.). The following night, Traverse City will host those same Junior Blues in the team’s second annual ‘Turn the Rink Pink’ night that will benefit the American Cancer Society in adherence to National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The North Stars will don special pink jerseys for the Oct. 16-17 games against Springfield, which will be up for grabs in a weekend-long charity silent auction at Centre ICE.
In November, the club will honor current and former members of the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard in a month-long ‘North Stars Never Forget’ observance. The players will sport honorary camouflage jerseys that will also be up for auction during games Nov. 19-21 against St. Louis and Nov. 26-27 versus Michigan. Proceeds will benefit the Veterans of Foreign Wars organization. Fans are encouraged to wear ‘patriotic casual’ to the contests – All-American red, white, and blue garb.
Games that precede Christmas (Dec. 17-18 vs. Motor City) and Valentine’s Day (Feb. 11-13 vs. Janesville) will feature a Teddy Bear Toss that will put new plush companions in the hands of those children represented by Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Northwest Michigan and the Father Fred Foundation, among others.
Other community gamenight events include a Funky Friday/Saturday Night Fever disco/throwback weekend, a Happy Halloween public post-game skate with the North Stars players, a Dr. Seuss birthday celebration, and the February Frostbite Face-off For Father Fred Food Drive. The entire community gamenight slate will be released before the club opens the 2010-11 campaign on Sept. 11 at Chicago.
Season tickets – valued at $224 each – represent a 20 percent savings over individual game tickets, and include the North Stars 2010-11 charity calendar, 10 free companion tickets for each season ticketholder, and a discount on North Stars VIP Suite rental. Many of the four-top bistro-style tables in the popular Polar Bear Club are sold out for the entire season, but some in the brand-new elevated mezzanine level remain. Season tables are $1,500 for all 27 regular season home games. Fans interested in the few remaining tables are encouraged to call the team immediately to reserve them.
